 | Heat source should be permanently affixed and fired
by gas, electric, propane, or oil (wood only as backup). |
 | Space heaters are acceptable if they are common to the area and they
can be supported by comparable sales with like heat sources. |
 | Hot water tanks should not be located within living
space, such as a bathroom, kitchen bedroom, etc.. |
 | If hot water tanks are in closet-type areas, these
areas require a permanent vent. |

 | Hot water tanks should have an extension on pressure
relief valve to within 6" of the floor. |
 | Chimneys will be inspected for cracked or chipped
mortar. |
 | All gutters & downspouts should be discharged to
splash blocks or connected to storm sewer. |
 | The inspector must gain access to all rooms in the
dwelling and all living units. |
 | Exterior wood areas which are blistered, chipped,
etc. should be repainted to match existing areas. |
 | Smoke detectors are required by NYS law. |
 | Sump pumps should discharge as per the appropriate
town code. |
